Boboy, Danny, Jim’s Music Rules!!

It’s a full-blown APO revival! Ever since the KaminAPO Muna album, a tribute album to Boboy, Danny and Jim’s music by the hottest bands hit the airwaves and the records stores, there seems to be little else playing except APO’s hit songs.

KaminAPO Muna turned Gold a few days after it’s release about three weeks ago and turned platinum on it’s second week. A limited edition CD which contains the original songs as sung by APO and the new tribute versions is selling so briskly it’s no. 2 in sales.

On radio and ringtone downloads, Yakap Sa Dilim and Doo Bi Doo rule the top two slots.

Danny, Boboy and Jim are thrilled no end, of course. They were present during MYX’s tribute to APO at Megamall last August 23 where the bands paid lavish tribute to the three. Their schedules are beginning to fill up as well as more concerts are lined up and TV guestings are scheduled. Their widely viewed appearance at ASAP two weeks ago catapulted the show’s ratings over its competitor and

Jim Paredes will be with his two APO friends till December until he leaves for Sydney to spend Christmas with his family.

INQUIRER APOLOGIZES TO JIM PAREDES

Because of an inaccurate headline last August 20, 2006 which said that “Apo Jim Paredes Finally Gives Up On RP’, the Philippine Daily Inquirer issued an apology to Jim Paredes. PDI publisher Isagani Yambot said Paredes “had valid reason to be angry and upset over the headline.” He added that the headline was “inaccurate and unfair.”

"The damage though is in the headline itself. I know that very few actually read the whole thing and many more just read the headline and came to their own misguided conclusions," says Jim in his blog Writing on Air (haringliwanag.pansitan.net).

On TV Patrol's Mario Dumaual, Paredes said he immigrated with his family to Sydney last March "just to rest."

"I want to try something new. I'm 50 years old. My whole career is based on the fact that I wrote the soundtrack on Filipino lives and then I'm going to give up? That's not right," he said.

"I am glad to be appearing on TV to say this -- everyone who was fooled by that title, don't believe it. I will be the last person to trash the Philippines to feel good about migrating. I love the Philippines, period," he added.

Jim to Join Danny and Boboy for Concerts Soon!

It will be a grand reunion of sorts.  Five months will have passed since Danny, Jim and Boboy last sang together by the time their 2006 tour begins in August. Their last appearance together was in Megamall when they did a send-off for Jim who has changed his residence from Manila to Sydney. But now they are getting together for some shows this August and September.

KUMUSTAHAN, a roadshow which APO spearheaded throughout Europe and the Middle East last 2004 and 2005 will resume again still with the trio at the helm and very ably supported by Nanette Inventor, who is the mainstay. It begins in Melbourne on August 4 and follows right into Sydney on August 5.   Special guest is Geneva Cruz.  After that power weekend, Danny, Boboy and Jim  will fly back to Manila to do a series of shows - September 2 in Mall of Asia, September 9 in Pampanga and September 15 in Alegria Lounge. On September 23 and 24, APO will be in Guam and Saipan for Kumustahan sa Asia Pacific with Nanette and Rachel Alejandro. This will be a memorable show since it has been some 10 years since they were last in Guam, and it will be their first in Saipan.  After this, they fly back to Manila to do more shows before Jim leaves again for Sydney.

Jim for now resides in Sydney with his family. Asked what he missed most from back home, he replied, “My two friends. I wish they were here.”  It will be a rare treat to catch them in these very limited engagement shows so make sure you get your tickets while it’s still early.

TATLONG DEKADA PA!

It took just one rehearsal for the three of us and our intrepid musicians and this happened one day before we went up the stage at Cinema 3 in Megamall on the evening of March 11. But then again, we have been performing for some 36 years now and so the rehearsal was really just something we had to do--like an athlete needs to do stretching. We already knew what we were going to do for the show, more or less. We just needed to be psychologically attuned. And being together practicing with our musicians does it for us. My APO Valentine

It's all set.

Boboy, Danny and Jim have started hearts a-fluttering as producers in Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta, Canada have announced that APO will be doing two concerts there. Dubbed as My APO Valentine, this Valentine treat will surely excite Pinoys and their special someones enough to melt the still freezing weather in Canada.

This early, the APO are asking people to write in their favorite love songs so that they can prepare them. After all, Jim, Danny and Boboy have written some of the biggest, most enduring OPMs in Philippine pop history spread over a recording career which produced 26 albums all in all. They have a long list of gold, platinum albums but more than that, they have captured the hearts and minds of Filipinos of all generations everywhere in the world.

The trio will be accompanied by their very able band which has kept them company for many years now. They are Boyet Pigao on drums and is the musical director, Ernie Baladjay on main keyboards, JD Villanueva on second keyboards, Noel Santiago on guitar, and Colby dela Calzada on bass. APO is managed by Butch and Betta Dans of The Thirdline,Inc.
