Portland 'Blinks' For APO
It was a respite from the very hectic sweep of promotions in Houston and Atlanta which the APO had been doing before prior to arriving in Portland on the 20th.- a day before their performance on the 21 st of May before an intimate but a very enthusiastic crowd of around 450 people at Benson high school auditorium. Despite the fact that it was a minus-1 show (sans live band), Jim, Danny and Boboy wowed the crowd with their gimmicks and hits. It was actually a blessing that the performance was a minus-one show and not with their five piece band because the electrical needs of the sounds and lights could hardly be met by the venue. Twice, the sound and lights conked out. Lights director Mike Rodas and sound engineer Butch Dans nevertheless made sure the show went on as smoothly as possible. But much to the delight of the concert-goers, the APO saw the glitch as an opportunity for 'improv' as they bantered 'live' with their adoring fans..
Sales of CDs and DVDs were brisk after the show. People lined up for signatures, pictures and to congratulate Boboy, Danny and Jim who gamely acceded to requests. Producer Evelyn Estibar was seen walking about with a wide grin on her face. Before the APO left, she expressed to the three her interest in a return engagement before year's end.
