It couldn't have been any sweeter for Danny, Jim and Boboy as they bowed before an adoring crowd that gave them a standing ovation at the Charles M. Schultz Theater at Knottsberry Farm last night. Clearly relishing the situation, the APO were beaming as they took numerous bows of gratitude at the end of the show at around 10:40PM, May 7, 2005 capping this pre-Mother's Day concert. They sang a combination of hits, a few not-too-known album cuts, gimmicky show stoppers, and a barrage of their famed wit and humor. It's been barely a year since APO's last visit to LA and yet they filled up around 70% of the venue's 2,004 seats . As Carmen Yaeger, a long time fan said, "I have watched them before and will continue to watch APO every time they visit. I can't get enough of them". The trio did a total of 14 numbers. Frontacting them were Manila singing sensation Carol Banawa and the talented saxophonist Ner De Leon. Both are now US residents.
This is show no. 4 of APO's tour this year. They head off for their San Diego show at the plush Pala Casino on May 15. For this tour, APO brought along previously unreleased merchandise ---DVDs of their 25th and 30th Anniversary concerts, a variety of pins, new CDs, T-shirts and pictures for their audience. Betta Dans, APO's manager stressed that these DVDs and pins have not been released in Manila yet and may never be. "People can only get them in this tour".
The APO and band will be hanging around the Los Angeles area until the 14th of May to attend to some golf, socials, partying with relatives and friends before continuing the rest of the tour to San Diego, Portland, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Houston. After the tour which ennds on May 30, they go back to Manila to rest for a week, and then head off for a short tour of the Middle East. |
