APO, Bituin, Kayla Heat up Doha!
Before leaving for Doha, Qatar, we had asked a few OFWs lined up in the embassy getting their visas what Qatar was like. The few we talked to said there were no theme parks, no great shopping outlets to go to and that it was a boring place compared to Dubai or even Bahrain. That uncompromising assertion from the chorus of their 1985 signature tune, "American Junk" has doubled as the ad hoc mission statement of Apo Hiking Society since their debut in 1969. Indeed, few groups have been able to demonstrate as consistent a level of originality over such a long period of time as has this veteran trio. Read full article here.

APO ‘DEVIRGINIZES' DETROIT!
Fresh from their Atlantic smash gig just the night before, APO flew in to Detroit on October 22 to perform at the Millennium Theater before a wild crowd of mostly first-time APO watchers. In the show, the three guys made much ado about the people in the audience who are watching them for the first time. Dubbed as ‘ APO virgins', Danny usually makes a big deal about how this section of the audience will be ‘losing their virginity' tonight! Read more or view pictures here.

APO IN ATLANTIC…FINALLY! OCTOBER 21, 9PM, ATLANTIC CITY . The show at the Trump Taj Mahal theater started with a local group called the Rubberbands which did 3 songs. Then it was Rene Sese's turn, one of the show's producers who indulged the audience with a song and a few laughs. APO Hiking Society makes acting comeback in "Lasponggols" When Boboy Garrovillo told filmmaker Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez last year about the APO Hiking Society's interest to be part of "Lasponggols," but "it's all a matter of when and where" given their hectic schedules, the Cinemalaya finalist moved heaven and earth just to make sure that the APO will make it as actors in his directorial debut. APO HEATS UP BAHRAIN, KUWAIT AND OMAN!
Together with Angelique Lazo, Geneva Cruz, Nanette Inventor, the APO raised the barometers to record highs in Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman with performances full of warmth and laughter before an estimated 6 thousand Filipinos.In a 10 day tour, the Kumustuhan show, a program put together by Star Events rolled out the carpet of great Filipino entertainment to the delight of Filipinos in the area. Portland 'Blinks' For APO
It was a respite from the very hectic sweep of promotions in Houston and Atlanta which the APO had been doing before prior to arriving in Portland on the 20th.— a day before their performance on the 21 st of May before an intimate but a very enthusiastic crowd of around 450 people at Benson high school auditorium. DANNY, JIM, BOBOY "ROCK, CHACHA, MARCH" AT PALA!
It cut across generation lines. After singing their last number, Danny, Jim and Boboy stood triumphant at the Events Theater of the Pala Casino on the evening of May 15, 2005 while people from age 12 to past 60 stood in lusty applause and ovation. Full article and pictures here.

APO CHARMS LA!
It couldn't have been any sweeter for Danny, Jim and Boboy as they bowed before an adoring crowd that gave them a standing ovation at the Charles M. Schultz Theater at Knottsberry Farm last night. Clearly relishing the situation, the APO were beaming as they took numerous bows of gratitude at the end of the show at around 10:40PM, May 7, 2005 capping this pre-Mother's Day concert. VICOR RE-RELEASES APO's FIRST
TWO ALBUMS!
As part of its celebrations as a 40 year
old music company, Vicor Music Corporation has re-released APO's
first two albums in one double CD package called "40th Anniversary
Collection: APO HIKING SOCIETY". One CD contains excerpts from
APO's 2-day farewell concerts held on July 15 and 16 in 1973 at
the Meralco Theater when they thought they would be splitting up
after college. The other CD contains the songs and gimmicks of their
first studio album called "Collectors Item". The two recordings
are must-have items for APO archive collectors. Real blasts from

APO's US Tour 2005: Brooks,
California
MARCH 20, CACHE CREEK CASINO, BROOKS,
CA. Danny, Jim and Boboy were really on a roll in this Casino venue
as they brought the SRO house of more than 1,800 people down with
their great performance. The overcapacity crowd which broke the
casino's box-offfice records came from all over the West Coast to
catch the APO on their second US tour in less than a year. Their
two hour performance consisted of their hits and gimmicks, and their
unique humor which kept the crowd enthralled for more than two hours.
They were front-acted by nnow US residents Angelica and Miriam Pantig.
After the show, the APO signed autographs, CDs and books. For a

"I got my first guitar at age 11. I wrote my first song at
age 15... I don't read or write music. I write completely by feel.
I save the melody and lyrics and work with an arranger for recordings.

Ho Ho Ho!!! Jim, Danny and Boboy will be doing a pre-Christmas tour
of UAE, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark and England

with Nanette Inventor and Geneva Cruz in a concept show aimed at

Write-UP on Toronto Show!
"Unlike their April 17, 2004 Toronto concert at the International
Center where they performed to a capacity crowd of close to 3,000
screaming and applauding fans to kick-off "The APO Strikes
Again Spring Concert Tour!", the Apo Hiking Society's comeback
show last Saturday at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto (dubbed "Balik
Saya") was performed in front of a lot of empty seats prompting

Amidst temperatures that ranged from 97 to 103 degrees, the APO
entourage arrived in MacAllen at the edge of Texas bordering Mexico
to do the last show on their 13 city North American tour.

New York City was APO’s 11th show in their 13 city tour. And
as usual, they did it again. The next day at 5AM, the whole entourage
rushed to Newark airport to catch a flight to Jacksonville for a
concert at 6PM.
